Pura Besakih - Let it Take Your Breath Away

Pura Besakih in Bali, Indonesia is something you must see when visiting this Indonesia island. It's also known as The Mother Temple of Besakih and it's one of the largest, most significant and sacred of Hindu temples. In 1963, the volcano erupted, but the deadly lava flowed around the temple, leaving it perfectly intact. Pura Besakih is comprised of 22 temples. Visitors climb the stairs to admire the terraces and courtyards and continue their journey upward to the Meru structure. This upward journey is meant to simulate the ascension a soul takes toward heaven.
